Kaye's Millennium Green was established in 2000 with support from Natural England and the BIG lottery fund. It has subsequently been developed through the fund-raising efforts of the Clayton West Millennium Green Trust. Extensive work was carried out in 2013 with the support of the East Peak Innovation Partnership. It is also supported by Denby Dale Parish Environment Trust.
Kaye's Millennium Green has four main access points - look out for the signs by the lodge on Scott Hill or take the lane with a footpath sign next to the village stores. If you are coming from Bilham Road look for the footpath sign just by the stables. There are information panels and plenty of benches near to the main pathway which is part of the Kirklees Way.
This new seating has been provided by popular request and a circle of benches shaded by huge trees will provide an outdoor classroom for pupils of Kaye’s School. This will extend their environmental education further than their excellent school grounds and into the community where they are growing up. The Green is for everyone and we would like as many people as possible to use it and to be involved in its care. If you, or a group you belong to, have an idea for an activity we would be delighted to hear from you – or indeed – just to know that you make use of it. Click here to contact us.
